Team Building Event Suggestion
Racing to Victory Lane

Circa's goal is to help your team reach deep inside, discover their potential strength and bring it to the surface. Keeping in line with the level of excellence our clients expect, we create the ideal environment to attain success by placing your participants in professional caliber situations, with quality event challenges, games and equipment.

For decades, the use of sporting analogies has been used as a corporate team building tool. Now more than ever, the mental toughness required to achieve athletic feats is also the same attitude and discipline needed to conquer today’s business world. Circa will provide a day of events to inspire your team to race for the checkered flag, swing for the fences and to drive the green. We’ve also made sure our clients are pampered in the style of a modern day professional athlete.

The day will start with smiling Circa staff, decked in racing gear, greeting your participants with “lap signs” at their hotel and then guiding them to awaiting deluxe motorcoaches for the quick twenty minute ride to the raceway. While en route, customized inspirational music, such as “Born to be Wild”, “Highway to the Danger Zone”, helps the participants get in the mood for a day at the track.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Start your Engines!

Located on the Austin Bergstrom International Airport grounds, the Iron Rock Racetrack offers your guests the thrill of putting the pedal to the metal. Carts are Italian Birel open wheel race karts, powered by a nine-horsepower, four-stroke Honda engine capable of 55 mph on the straight away. When your guests are at that speed one inch above the ground, taking turn after turn on the 3/4-mile sprint track, the fun and excitement shifts into high gear!

The group will have been pre-organized into groups. Upon arrival to the facility, Raceway staff will greet the participants, introduce them to the facility and the track and distribute each individual teams’ custom logoed authentic flame-retardant racing jacket. Now, the mission for the day is introduced.

A European-Style Endurance Course format will insure every participant on each team has ample time on the track with each team running a multi-hour race. The goal is to achieve the best time over the long haul.

While karts are running on the track in the Endurance format, additional activities are in place to add to the total team points, fun and continuity of the day’s activity.

Going into the first Turn!
In keeping with the racing theme, two, full-size NASCAR Motion Simulators will allow teams to go the distance in the driver’s seat! The simulators are actual retired NASCAR race cars which have been converted in to state-of-the-art racing games that look, fell and sound like a real NASCAR, roaring around the track. The simulators feature independent hydraulic motion in each wheel. In the driver’s seat, there is a realistic feeling of being inside a race car. Once the race is under way, the track will appear on the windshield and drivers will feel the same movements and hear the same sounds as the professionals do. The two simulators will be linked to provide head-to-head competition all day long.

Hitting the Pits! While the driver typically gets the recognition for a victory, a wise driver knows it is the pit crew’s succinct teamwork that makes the win a possibility. To reinforce the team component of racing, the Pit Stop Challenge gives an opportunity for the team to gain points behind the scenes. Participants compete in change an official NASCAR-style tire in record-breaking time. The timer starts as soon as the impact wrench is picked up. Teams work to loosen all of the lug nuts and then pull the wheel back to engage the light and then, they race to push the wheel back on and tighten the lug nuts. The wheel and tire, which are held on a shaft, do not physically separate from the Pit Stop Challenge Game, allowing participants of all shapes, sizes and strength levels to participate in the Pit Challenge.

Going into the Straight-aways!
When drivers hit the Straight-aways during a race, planning and strategy for the turns ahead come into play. Similarly, golfers use the fairways to strategize for the greens ahead. Playing upon this parallel to racing, participants will shift gears for The Best Driver Challenge as we set out to find the best driver on the golf course.

While at the Raceway facility, teams will compete on the finest golf courses of the world such as Augusta National, Pebble Beach, and The Royal and Ancient in Scotland. With a full-size Golf Simulator, participants tee up with an actual golf ball and then select from a variety of drivers to hit their shot. A computer calculates the distance and trajectory upon clubface impact and then projects “the shot” on a 10x10 screen.

Participants compete in this challenge to see who can grip it and rip it in a Longest Drive contest format! The Radar Golf Machine measures speed and calculates distance so all will know who can hit the long ball.

Good golfers, just as good racers, know it’s not always about distance. This challenge introduces the element of finesse with Closest-to-the-Pin Simulators in which participants are challenged to hit an iron shot closest to the pin.

The Putting Challenge electronically simulates 75 holes of Championship greens. The contour of the green changes after every hole so no two shots are alike. Participants will find out who has the softest hands around the green with this virtual putting challenge course.

Heading for the Home Stretch!
Batter up! With a Virtual Baseball Game, the pitch comes in onscreen giving participants the opportunity to knock it out of the park! Using cutting edge technology, the batter stands in the batter’s box of a famous stadium, to face a Major League pitcher. Upon the swing the ball will “fly” as if hit and participants can see if someone can knock it out of the park.

Just like the pros, a team must be in peak condition to fire on all cylinders. The Restoration Station, a respite rivaling the finest spas and training rooms available, makes everyone a winner. A twelve person oxygen bar will be on hand to offer flavored O2 lifting the spirits and replenish the senses. Assorted fresh juices, energy drinks and artesian waters will be available in the Lounge to help with driver recovery. On hand will be eight massage therapists with leather cushioned ergonomic massage chairs providing vigorously refreshing ten minute Shiatsu Chair Massages. After working with their hands all day, participants can rejuvenate with paraffin hand treatments to restore and refresh.

Participants can sit back and relax as they enjoy another special treat, an Authentic Hand-rolled Cuban Cigar with our client's personalized bands, a perfect compliment to stories told reliving the fun of the day’s competition.

The Winners Circle!
Each member of the winning team will receive a handsome racing trophy to take back home for bragging rights. Competition (and victory) is sweeter with a reward waiting. To the victor goes the spoils. Circa suggests spoiling the winning team with a picturesque Sunrise Balloon ride the next morning which includes Landing Celebration of Champagne and Croissants over the Texas Hill country (availability dependent upon weather conditions; up to five riders per balloon).
